I liked this exercise it was very comforting the person I chose is someone I am very close to therefore when thinking about the light coming from him to me I felt a warm loving sensation come over me I felt really connected it was really like being enveloped by this persons being. The light felt so bright like I could not see through it but I could still see him. It was a marvelous experience.
You can not begin to help someone unless you know what it is they have gone through this reminds me of the time my husband wanted to quit smoking and he brought the patches and they had a 800 number help line for when you needed encouragement or just someone to talk to. I remember he called and was talking to the person on the other end and he asked them how long had they smoked? when the person replied they had never smoked he was so mad he said how can you help me if you don't know what it is like? He said how do you hire someone for this type of job who does not understand the addiction. I had never thought about such a thing but it is true. As practitioners you have to practice what you preach in order to be able to truly help someone.
I had never looked at it like this before. I guess this is why AA has recovering addicts to mentor newcomers. I remember when I was a kid, I hated being told "do as I say, not as I do". I never understood this. People need to practice what they preach. Who's gonna listen to a fat, smoking, overweight, non-exercising health and wellness professional. Great post. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! Mack I too hated being told "do as I say, not as I do. I used to get in trouble all the time by my mother because of that phrase. I always looked at that person as a hypocrit. As I have became older I finally realize why I was always tolld that. What's even crazier is my four year old son does the same thing to me as I did to my mom. I guess it's Karma.
